Paul Nixon

Out of Depth was Sean’s first lead role in a film and was released in the UK on 29 June 2001. Based on a true story, it is a hard-hitting, contemporary, character based thriller.

Sean plays Paul Nixon, who has grown up in poverty and violence. Now in his twenties, he has got a job in the media and an “it girlfriend”, Sarah. He is on his way up. When his mother is attacked however, instinct tells Paul that he must exact revenge, but when the professional villain he hires to carry out the beating asks for a favour in return, Paul is sucked into a life of drugs, violence and death.

Sean said, “It was probably the most page turning script I’ve ever read. I genuinely couldn’t put it down. It was only when I got about half way through it, and I thought, “God, I haven’t paused for breath!”
